Life in Quarantine: Personal Feelings and Relationships

It is currently day 131 of quarantine. Tbh when I googled “Days Calculator” I expected 400 something days. Then I realized that 1 year equals 365 days. Heh. The past 131 days do feel like 4 times longer. Odd times, don’t you think?   A couple of days ago, an idea sprung to mind. I asked some of my friends a series of questions about the quarantine, focusing on personal feelings and relationships. I might -caps lock on the word MIGHT- make this into a series of quarantine posts, maybe the next one we’ll talk about the future or economy or something else. We’ll see. We’ll see. Anyhow, I curated their answers and I present this to you all. Sedikit tips tentang bepergian ke Jepang!

Tiket Pesawat

Rute paling enak untuk ke Jepang dari SUB adalah naik Cathay karena transit di Hong Kong yang perjalanannya tidak terlalu jauh. Kalo naik Garuda tidak ada yang direct, harus stop dulu di Jakarta baru ke Tokyo/Osaka.

Hotel

Website yang berkali-kali aku cek untuk mencari hotel adalah TripAdvisor. Saat mencari hotel, rajin-rajin membaca review dan cek foto yang diambil oleh traveler, bukan dari pihak manajemen. Hati-hati juga dengan komentar yang mengatakan 5 menit dari stasiun dan sejenisnya, karena 5 menit orang luar dengan 5 menit kita berbeda. Cari aman, cek lokasi pakai Google Maps.

JR Pass

Setelah mengecek harga JR pass online, akhirnya kita membeli lewat travel agent karena harganya yang tidak jauh beda. Pass ini baru bisa untung kalo sering berpindah kota. Bisa dihitung kira-kira cost shinkansen antarkota lewat Hyperdia lalu dibandingkan dengan harga pass. Cek juga nama shinkansennya, karena tidak semua di-cover JR (Nozomi atau Mizuho bukan punya JR). Khusus shinkansen, bisa book seat dulu di ticketing office yang biasanya berlogo hijau, tanpa cas tambahan karena pakai JR pass. Sediakan waktu ekstra karena kadang jarak station subway dengan shinkasnen cukup jauh, apalagi membawa koper. Untuk 12 hari, kita membeli 7-day-pass karena dipaskan tanggal pindah kota daripada harus membayar untuk jangka waktu yang lebih panjang tapi malah tidak terpakai.

Subway/Bus

Di Osaka dan Tokyo, subway atau sering disebut metro paling sering dinaiki. Meskipun petanya agak ribet, tapi nanti bisa paham rute-rutenya. Beli tiketnya lewat mesin atau beli kartu SUICA atau Pasmo yang mirip EZ Link Singapore yang tinggal di-tap dan diisi ulang. Bus cocok untuk keliling Kyoto karena banyak yang stop di spot-spot turis dan station subway tidak sebanyak Osaka dan Kyoto. Bakalan hemat kalo beli day pass nya saja, supaya kalo nyasar-nyasar tidak rugi.

Tax Refunds

Setelah melewati batas harga tertentu kita bisa minta tax refund ke toko yang ada fasilitasnya. Tapi kalo di Jepang, setelah menunjukkan paspor kita bisa langsung belanja tax free alias tidak kena pajak. Paspor nanti akan ditempel kertas dan distempel sebagai buktinya. Kadang belanjaannya juga dipack sama mereka, jadi siapkan space lebih di koper karena tidak bisa dibongkar sebelum melewati pemeriksaan bandara.

Internet Access

Di KIX (Osaka) dan TYO (Tokyo) banyak yang menyewakan pocket wifi dengan harga yang terjangkau. Tapi kalo takut tidak dapat, bisa menyewa dari Indonesia lewat travel agent tapi dengan harga yang lebih tinggi.

Weather

Aku pergi dari tanggal 14-25 Juni jadi sudah termasuk musim panas. Saat di Osaka dan Kyoto kita tidak terlalu bermasalah dengan suhunya, tapi mataharinya memang terik. Saat malam Osaka justru berangin dan suhunya di sekitaran 20 °C. Tokyo sering hujan angin jadi harus sedia payung.

Where Did The Clouds Go? | Salzburg Winter Itinerary

We started our journey in Salzburg by dragging our-surprisingly not that heavy-suitcases across the train station to drop them in the hotel. You read that right, we dragged them. The  H+ Salzburg Hotel  is very conveniently located only several steps away from the station's door. The rooms were clean, receptionists were friendly and helpful, and everything else went very smoothly. We had zero complaints. H+ Salzburg Hotel Address:  Südtiroler Pl. 13, 5020 Salzburg, Austria Check-in: 15.00 Check-out: 12.00 Tip: I find hotels dot com offers better prices than other websites most of the time, but I could be biased since I am very comfortable with the interface and had saved up some nights as well.
